ISRAEL: AR medal (47.5g), 1972, ICMC-25906459, 45mm .935 silver medal by Yaakov Zim & Yaacov Enyedi for the Dedication of a New Synagogue in Munich; at center, on a replica of an old medal minted in Germany in 1887, a view of the Central Synagogue in Munich. The inscription in German reads: "Erected by Albert Schmidt 1887". On the rim, an inscription, in Hebrew: 'The new synagogue of the Jewish congregation of Munich" and in German "The new synagogue, Munich"// on the rim, above, a citation: "A brand rescued from the fire" - Zachariah 3:2. In the centre, a view of the ruins of the old synagogue incorporated into a wall of the new one. Below, an inscription in German: "New Community House", on edge "Israel" in Hebrew and English and "Silver 935" in Hebrew and "Sterling" in English. The issue date: "Ab 14, 5732 - 25.7.1972", struck at the Kretschmer Mint, Jerusalem in antique finish, Unc. On 25 July 1972, a new synagogue was dedicated in Munich. It was erected on the site of the Central Synagogue, burned down by the Nazis in 1938.
