ITALY: AE medal, The Inter Allied Victory Medal (Medaglia Interalleata della Vittoria), with replacement ribbon, AU, ex Joseph E. Lang Collection. The Italian Inter-Allied Victory Medal was established on December 16, 1920 (Royal Decree of 1918) and was designed by Gaetano Orsolini. The obverse design features a winged figure of Victory standing on a triumphal chariot drawn by four yoked lions. The reverse has a "tazza" (an Italianate bowl or urn) from which two doves fly, bearing olive branches, with the inscription "GRANDE GUERRA PER LA CIVILITA'" (The Great War for Civilization) above, and "AL COMBATTENTI DELLE NAZIONI ALLEATE ED ASSOCIATE" (To the combatants of the Allied and Associated nations) below.
