ITALY: Vittorio Emanuele III, 1900-1946, AE medal, 1936, 44mm matte finish bronze medal by E. Monti and struck by S. Johnson, dated Fascist era year 14, for the Ethiopian campaign and Proclamation of the Italian Empire; General Emilio De Bono - Capture of Macalle' (Mek'ele), a superb specimen quality example! PCGS graded Specimen 65. Part of a set of 22 bronze medals struck for the Ethiopian campaign and the Proclamation of the Empire. Emilio De Bono (1866–1944) was an Italian general, fascist activist, marshal, and member of the Fascist Grand Council (Gran Consiglio del Fascismo). De Bono fought in the Italo-Turkish War, the First World War and the Second Italo-Abyssinian War. On 8 November, the I Corps and the Eritrean Corps captured Mek'ele, capital of the Tigray Region. This proved to be the limit of how far the Italian invaders would get under the command of De Bono.
