JAIPUR: Man Singh, as titular ruler, 1949-1970, AR nazarana rupee (11.14g), 1949 year 3, KM-195, Unc. The 1949 year 3 nazarana rupees were supposedly unofficial strikes during year 3 of Man Singh as "independent" ruler from 1947-1949. This is unlikely, as official nazarana rupees continued to be struck in 1949 with his regnal year 28. Thus, the year 3 pieces were later strikes after Jaipur was incorporated into the Republic of India in April 1949, presumably by local sarafs, as the official mint at Jaipur would have been closed. They were used as presentation pieces during the annual festivals.
