JAPAN: AR medal, Military Wounded Soldier Badge (Gunjin Shogi Kisho), Kou-sho (non-combat injury) type, with original red card case of issue with silver lettering, AU, ex Joseph E. Lang Collection. The Japanese Military Wounded Soldier Badge was established in 1938 and was awarded to Army and Navy personnel for combat or non-combat injuries, featuring two types: the gilded Sen-sho (battle wound) and silver Ko-sho (non-combat/illness). The badge is a cross with red enamel on its arms and a central, silver-toned medallion featuring the embossed image of a bearded historical Japanese figure, possibly Kusunoki Masashige, a 14th-century samurai. The reverse of the medal typically has Japanese characters and a dual-prong or vertical pin-back attachment.
