JAPAN: AV kin kwan (6.15g), ND (ca. 2000 BC-400 AD), Opitz-pg.280; Munro-pg. 5, 17 mm, "Gold Ring Money" gilt copper ring; the gilt appears somewhat thin in places, allowing for verdigris to envelop approximately eighty percent of the surface; various forms of ring money were used in Eastern Asia including Japan for at least 2,500 years; usually made of hollow copper with a thin layer of gold ( kin ) or silver ( gin ) applied to the outside surfaces; an intriguing piece which is sure to delight the advanced collector of Japanese numismatics or primative money, VF, ex Howard D.
