JAPAN: Bunkyu, 1861-1864, AE 4 mon (3.77g), H-5.17, JNDA-138.2, with cursive style written by Court Councilor Itakura Katsuyoshi, minted at Asakua and Kosuge from 1863-68, bosen (seed or mother) coin, EF. The Bunkyu Eiho coin was the last of the traditional cast cash coins to be introduced. In 1868, the minting machinery that had been in use in Hong Kong was brought to Osaka and production of cast coinage ceased.
