JAPAN: Bunkyu, 1861-1864, lead 100 mon (172.37g), Hosokura mine, Mutsu province, H-6.8, hosokura to hyaku, official's signature on reverse, cast in the 4th year Bunkyu era (1864), Fine. Made by the Sendai clan at the Hosokura mine in Mutsu province. It is said that because it was so heavy and inconvenient to carry, a smaller 10 mon piece was made, but this has not been recorded.
