JAPAN: Bunkyu, 1861-1864, lead 100 mon (186.59g), Hosokura Mint, Mutsu Province, H-6.8, JNDA-Bakumatsu-17, 62mm, legend hosokura to hyaku, with official's signature on reverse, cast in the 4th year of the Bunkyu era (1864), light oxidation but much nicer than usual, with JNDA certificate 63620, VF. Made by the Sendai clan at the Hosokura Mint in Mutsu province. It is said that because it was so heavy and inconvenient to carry, a smaller 10 mon piece was made, but this has not been recorded.
