JAPAN: Kyoho, 1716-1736, AV bu (2.38g), Kai Province, H-8.69, KM-94, JNDA-09-87, struck circa 1721-24, stamped with paulownia flower above the clan name matsuki, as well as the denomination ichi / bu // symbol above, kanji character below, an especially well struck example for type! PCGS graded EF40. This is a local issue struck in Kai Province, an area of Japan that is today Yamanashi Prefecture. Its abbreviated form name was Koshu and many collectors refer to the series as "Koshu" gold. Many varieties exist.
