JAPAN: Kyoho, 1716-1736, AV bu (2.71g), Kai Province, H-8.69, Shin Koshu Ichibu-kin, struck circa 1725-30, stamped with paulownia flower above the clan name matsuki, as well as the denomination ichi / bu // symbol above, jo below, an attractive example for the type, VF-XF. This is a local issue struck in Kai Province, an area of Japan that is today Yamanashi Prefecture. Its abbreviated form name was Koshu and many collectors refer to the series as "Koshu" gold. Many varieties exist.
