JAPAN: LOT of 237 coins, interesting study lot of scarce iron Japanese Kan'ei Tsuho cash coins, 1 mon denomination, of the Tokugawa Shogunate Period, average circulated condition, retail value $850, lot of 237 coins.

The Japanese Kan'ei Tsuho iron coin is was minted during the Edo period under the Tokugawa shogunate, serving as the daily money of commoners from the mid-18th century until 1868. While Kan'ei Tsuho coins were originally cast in high-quality copper beginning in 1626, the Shogunate shifted production to cast iron in 1739 due to severe domestic copper shortages and depleted mines.
