JAPAN: Meiji, 1868-1912, AE medal, year 43 (1910), Zeno-207490, 64mm third-prize bronze award medal for a Prefectural Joint Fair sponsored by the Ministry of Agriculture & Commerce, designed by Unno Bisei, a possible auction scene on the obverse with the date and "third prize medal / bronze medal" above // Chrysanthemum Seal with surrounding legend at center, with forest, waves, dragon's head and pickaxe surrounding, hallmark on edge (engraver's name), lovely original surfaces, with original case of issue, XF. The sculptor of this medal, Unno Bisei, was the son of Moritoshi of Mito. He studied under Unno Shomin, and like his teacher taught at the Tokyo School of Fine Arts.
