IMPORTANT NOTE - The Buyer's Premium is now $20 per lot or 20% of the hammer price, whichever amount is greater. However, we have also reduced opening bids on lower value items to adjust for the new Buyer's Premium structure, so all-in costs are still very close to what they were in the past. This change in fee structure will allow us to continue to offer coins valued at less than $100 in addition to our higher value offerings. Contact us with any questions.
JAPAN: Morioka Domain, AR 8 momme (30.02g), ND (1868), H-9.92, KM-52, JNDA-09-73, "Morioka Ginban" type, hatchi momme at center, counterstamped kai (revised) in circle, and yu (finance) six times // yama for Yamagata Province, and yu (finance) six times, struck in 1868 to fund the Morioka clan war chest, with JNDA Certificate of Authenticity, an attractive nearly mint state example, AU, RR. This type was struck from silver produced from the Kosaka Mine and minted from March to August 1868 at the rate of about 150 pieces per day. Due to the many surviving pieces that are in good quality, it is likely that they were in circulation for a very short time, or found only very limited circulation during the brief Boshin War.
