JAPAN: Showa, 1926-1989, 1 sen, Kyoto, ND (1945), Y-110, struck in red porcelain, Sakura blossoms // Mt. Fuji above clouds, PCGS graded MS64. Made by Kyowashinkou Porcelain Co. in Kyoto, also Seto Co., as an experimental coin at the end of WWII. This type is made of 60% Sankansaka Clay, 15% Granite, 15% Red clay and 10% other. The color can range from bright red to dark brown depending on the baking temperature. It is said to have circulated for a short time at the end of the war and because they are occasionally encountered with light wear.
