JAPAN: Showa, 1926-1989, LOT of 9 certified 1-sen, Kyoto, ND (1945), Y-110, struck in red porcelain, Sakura blossoms // Mt. Fuji above clouds, all PCGS-graded MS63; retail value $400, lot of 9 slabs. Made by Kyowashinkou Porcelain Co. in Kyoto, and Seto Co., as an experimental coin at the end of WWII. This type is made of 60% Sankansaka Clay, 15% Granite, 15% Red clay and 10% other. The color can range from bright red to dark brown depending on the baking temperature. It is said to have circulated for a short time at the end of the war and because they are occasionally encountered with light wear.
