JAPAN: Tenpo, 1830-1844, AR chogin (161.92g), Edo Mint, H-9.50, Cr-9b, JNDA-09-68, stamped with Daikoku (God of Wealth) six times, with character po stamped at both ends, struck 1837-58, with JNDA Certificate of Authenticity, VF-XF. The chogin were various silver ingots shaped like a sea cucumber, which did not have a face value and were valued by weight. This was the same for the mameita gin of various sizes as well. These types were stamped with the Japanese era name at the time of manufacture.
