JAPAN: Tokugawa, 1603-1868, AE mon (3.13g), H-5.17s, JNDA-138.2, Bunkyu Eiho type with cursive style written by Court Councilor Itakura Katsuyoshi, bosen (seed or mother) coin, minted at Asakua and Kosuge from 1863-68, XF. The Bunkyu Eiho coin was the last of the traditional cast cash coins to be introduced. In 1868, the minting machinery that had been in use in Hong Kong was brought to Osaka and production of cast coinage ceased.
