KAMPAR: tin pitis (0.78g), ca. mid-17th century, Millies—, Mitchiner JONS-213 p.32, cf. Zeno-198752, pangeran kampa[r] ('Lord of Kampar'), attractive glossy luster, Unc, RR. The Kampar Sultanate was located along the eponymous river in central Sumatra. It flourished in the first half of the 17th century through trade with nearby Siak, Indragiri, Jambi, and larger states further afield like Palembang and Banten. Millies found indications of the existence of local coinage, but did not know of any examples. No coins from Kampar have previously appeared in an auction to our knowledge.
