KATHMANDU: Mahipatendra Malla, ca. 1669, AR mohar (5.37g), ND, KM-177, Rh-266, trident in diamond obverse center, 4 panels around, VF, RR, ex Halpert Collection (Spink December 11, 2000 Auction, Lot 19). According to Rhodes (page 88), "Mahipatendra was the younger brother of Chakravartendra, who did not succeed to the throne after his father's death [in 1674], so these undated coins were probably struck during the lifetime of Pratap Malla [his father, who died in 1674], perhaps after Chakravartendra Malla's death about AD1669 and before his father resumed the throne after his pilgrimage, later in the same year."
