KHIVA: Sayyid 'Abd Allah Khan, 1918-1920, AE 15 tenga (12.25g), Khwarezm, AH1338 (1920), A-3089H, Y-11.1, NS-X77a, narrow flan variety, extremely rare! PCGS graded AU50, ex Dr. Wolfgang Schuster Collection.

This type was manufactured with crudely assembled machinery on cast-prepared copper or bronze flans, entirely anonymous, with denomination written out on obverse, mint & date on reverse.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Struck on narrow flans of 5 Tanga; in an attempt to replace the 5 Tanga coins with 15 Tanga due to inflation, narrow flans of 5 Tanga (27-30 mm) were used first. Confusion over the same size of the two denominations shortly led to the fabrication and use of larger flans (31‒35 mm X77b).
