KOREA: Yi Hyong, 1864-1897, AR 5 yang, year 501 (1892), KM-1114, JNDA-18-5, struck at the Incheon Mint, cleaned and attractively retoned, PCGS graded AU details. The Incheon Mint (Incheon Jeonhwanguk) operated from 1892 to 1900 as Korea's first modern facility for machine-struck coinage. It produced the newly standardized Yang and Fun coinage denominations. The mint was established to modernize Korea's economy, utilizing modern minting technology and engravers like Egami Genjiro. The coins featured legends in a mix of Hanja characters, Hangul, and Latin lettering.
