LIAO: Zhuang Guo, 916-1125, AE cash (2.5g), H-18.28, zhuang guo yuan bao, graded 85 by GBCA Grading Company, VF. This is one of a pair of the rare coins with legends meaning "Reinforce the Empire" and "Support the Empire." Their origin is still a matter of debate. Formerly considered to be of Vietnamese origin, modern consensus that it is a Liao coin rests heavily on spot-finds as specimens have exclusively been unearthed in Northern China within former Liao territories. Some experts believe they were issued in a border region of the Later Jin Dynasty (936-947).
