LOBKOWITZ-STERNSTEIN: Franz Joseph Maximilian, 1784-1816, AR 20 kreuzer, 1794, KM-10, VF, RR. The House of Lobkowitz dates back to the 14th century and is one of the oldest Bohemian noble families. Prince Franz Joseph Maximilian von Lobkowitz was a great music lover and passionate violinist. The Prince started a private orchestra in 1796 and employed excellent musicians for a string quartet. He became one of the most important patrons of Ludwig van Beethoven and was interested in performing many new works of the composer in his palace.
