MADAGASCAR: Ranavalona III, 1883-1897, AE 10 centimes, 1883, KM-X1, Lec-5, with the letter E for "ESSAI" on star on reverse, a superb example with hints of red, NGC graded MS64 BN. Struck by Auguste Brichaut, Brussels, for a Queen later dethroned by the French, a remarkable non-European ruler who addressed Queen Victoria as "my dear sister."This is in a somewhat older NGC holder with an MS designation. PCGS currently assigns these Specimen grades rather than Mint State grades which seems more accurate.
