MALAY STATES: LOT of 124 tin coins, including Islamic Sultanates: 52 tin pitis from Malacca and Pahang Sultanates, including a few pitis with the clearly legible names of Muzaffar Shah (1446-59) and Ahmad Shah (1511-13); 9 later smaller solid pitis (Sumatran style similar to the types of Samudra-Pasai, cf. Zeno-310371); 2 18th century pitis of Palembang, an octagon katun of Johor, and a segment of casting sprue with coins removed; Cash coins: 50 local tin imitations of Northern Song cash coins (all identified), and 8 high-grade shi dan li bao cash coins of Palembang (3 in holders); plus a 50mm tin amulet of a soldier holding a sword on horseback; average circulated grades for most pieces, most of the older pitis with some encrustations or corrosion, several with legible ruler's name, quite a few very rare and unpublished; retail value $350, lot of 124 pieces.
