MANCHUKUO: AE medal, Manchukuo Red Cross member's medal, XF-AU, ex Joseph E. Lang Collection. The Manchukuo Red Cross decorations and medals are presumed to have been established on October 1, 1938, and as in Japan, they were official awards that could be worn on military uniforms. They were designed after the Japanese Red Cross awards and were probably awarded in much the same way.Obverse: A central red-enamelled cross surrounded by four, five-lobed orchid flowers. Reverse: Two lines of Japanese-style kanji characters: "Manchukuo Red Cross" [Manzhou guó chìshízì shè] and "Koutoku 5 [1938] October 1st" [Kangdé wu nián shí yuè yi rì].
