MARATHA CONFEDERACY: QASRA RAHIMATPUR: AR rupee (10.93g), year 77, KM-, in the name of Ali Gohar (= Shah Alam II) and dated in his 77th year of reign (= 1835), several banker's marks; mint almost entirely off flan, but confirmed by the placement of the word qasra and the regnal year 77, VF, RRR. Rahimatpur was located just south of Satara, and was authorized to strike copper coins from 1833-1834, but none are known. There are three examples of this type, all dated year 78, that were sold in Indian auctions in 2012, with none having appeared since then. Chapekar, describing Maratha silver rupees during the Peshwa period, mentioned the existence of silver rupees of Rahimatpur, but none were known to Wiggins.
