MECKLENBURG-GÜSTROW: Hans Albrecht II, 1610-1636, AR 2 schilling, 1618, KM-28, Saurma-3599, scarce location, a well struck lustrous near mint state example, PCGS graded AU58, ex Joe Sedillot Collection. Finest graded 'top pop' by PCGS!John Albert II (Hans Albrecht II) co-ruled Mecklenburg-Schwerin with his brother Adolf Frederick I after their great-uncle's regency ended, and he later received Mecklenburg-Güstrow in a territorial division. Though officially neutral in the Thirty Years' War, the brothers supported Danish forces, leading to their dispossession by Emperor Ferdinand II in 1628; they returned after Wallenstein's fall in 1631. John Albert II died in 1636 and was buried in Güstrow.
