MEXICO: Republic, AE 2 centavos, 1890, KM-NC19, Tlaxcala State, bronze pattern, Capped Liberty bust left, REPUBLICA MEXICANA around // value in flamboyant lettering, ESTADO DE TLAXCALA, a superb example, PCGS graded Specimen 65 RD. Tied with only one other piece for finest known at PCGS.In 1890, the German firm of L. Chr. Lauer of Nuremberg issued a series of patterns for Mexico in copper and copper-nickel. Twenty-one designs were struck, all with a common obverse with different reverses for the various states and one commemorating the 80th anniversary of Mexican independence.
