IMPORTANT NOTE - The Buyer's Premium is now $20 per lot or 20% of the hammer price, whichever amount is greater. However, we have also reduced opening bids on lower value items to adjust for the new Buyer's Premium structure, so all-in costs are still very close to what they were in the past. This change in fee structure will allow us to continue to offer coins valued at less than $100 in addition to our higher value offerings. Contact us with any questions.
MEXICO: Republic, AR 8 reales (26.85g), 1841-Go, KM-377.8, D&P-Go23, assayer PJ, 4 in date is triple-punched, doubling of certain obverse features (most problem on the tail of the snake), but other elements are not doubled, a few small tooling marks near first "1" of date, VF-XF, ex Bob "Swamperbob" Gurney Collection. According to the consignor, the fact that only some features on the eagle and snake are doubled, but not others proves that Guanajuato was not using a full hub in 1841, and that some of the elements were added with a King Punch. The cactus and legend are not doubled. Hence, this is a very important discovery typel.
