MEXICO: Republic, AR 8 reales (27.25g), Guadalupe y Calvo, 1845-GC, KM-377.7, D&P-GC02, assayer MP, rare mule with first-style obverse (square tailed eagle) with second-style reverse (peaked cap), weak cap details, unevenly toned, VF-XF, ex Bob "Swamperbob" Gurney Collection. In 1844, a government mint was erected at Guadalupe y Calvo to strike coinage from the locally discovered Rosario silver vein. The mint was closed in 1850.
