MUGHAL: Aurangzeb, 1658-1707, AR ½ tanka (4.97g), Alamgirnagar (Cooch Behar), year 4, KM-85, RB-55, struck on the Cooch Behar standard with Bengali text, aorangajeva vades'aha alamgira / jarava alamgirnagara sana 4, choice VF, RRR, ex Paul Stevens Collection. Produced during the Mughal occupation of Cooch Behar (Koch Bihar) between 1661-64 while Raja Pran Narayan retreated to the mountains and waged a guerrilla war for three years before finally making a pact with the Mughal Nawab Shaista Khan in 1664. A similar specimen sold in the Spink Auction 13019, Lot 222 (September 2013) for £1400.
