MUGHAL: Humayun, 1530-1556, AR shahrukhi (4.65g), Qunduz, ND, A-B2464, obverse in 3 panels, knotted at center, with mint name in the bottom panel // Sunni kalima in plain circle, some weakness of strike, VF, RRR. A similar example from the same dies appeared at the Wilkes & Curtis Auction 2, Lot 424, with the mint read tentatively as Qandahar, which begins with the same three letters as Qunduz, but the weight corresponds to the general weight standard, not the local standard of Qandahar, and there appears to be no room for "hâ", which distinguishes the city name Qandahar from Qunduz. It is also conceivable that the mint name is Qandahar, struck to the 4.7g standard that was only briefly used at Qandahar for the AH951-952 joint issue between Humayun and the Safavid shah Tahmasp I (A-E2464).
