MUGHAL: Jahangir, 1605-1628, AR rupee, Ahmadabad, AH1027 year 13, KM-150.11, zodiac type, Leo (lion left), with the sun rising behind, early imitation, probably late 17th or 18th century, VF, RR, Dr. Axel Wahlstedt Collection.

NOTE: This coin is NOT in a PCGS holder.

Although the design and legends are almost identical to the original zodiac Leo rupee, the calligraphic differences show that it not from original dies. The "S" of "jalus" below the obverse is taller and unlike any "jalus" of the original series. On the reverse, the key difference is the first two letters of "Jahangir", slightly different from the "J" and "H" on any of the original zodiac types, and the "K" and "B" of "Akbar" are different.
