MUGHAL: Muhammad Shah, 1719-1748, Bronze die, Shahjahanabad, year 12, KM-437.4 style, VF, R. Bronze die for the reverse of a year 12 rupee of Muhammad Shah. The calligraphy is remarkably similar to the actual dirham, but the circle of dots is very different from genuine rupees. Thus this die was almost certainly used for contemporary imitations, probably no more than 15 or 20 years after Muhammad Shah's 12th regnal year. Contemporary and somewhat later imitation of his Shahjahanabad rupees were legion.
