MUGHAL: Shah Alam II, 1759-1806, AR rupee (10.87g), Humayunpur Pali, AH1187 year 14, KM-—, lovely VF, RRRR. The name Pali is largely off flan on this piece, but appears on the specimen illustrated in the Nagpur collection, the only reference I have found for this mint. According to Lingen, the Marwar (Jodhpur) mint at Pali did not open until AH1202 (1788), some 15 years after this coin was struck. It remains unclear whether this piece should be regarded as a truly Mughal issue or an issue of either Jodhpur or the Marathas.
