MUGHAL: Shah Jahan I, 1628-1658, AR broad rupee (10.91g), Shahjahanabad (= Delhi), AH1166 year 30, KM-228.4, circular center both sides, struck on a thin broad nazarana-like flan; mount removed, VF, RR. The city of Delhi received the new name Shahjahanabad in AH1058, and the thin broad style was the norm at this mint until the death of Shah Jahan. It is so different from the normal rupees of this period that its intention as a "nazarana" is certainly a possibility.
