MUGHAL: Shah Jahan I, 1628-1658, AR rupee (11.46g), Baldat Allahabad, AH1068 year 32, KM-232.x, both obverse & reverse central areas within an octofoil, choice EF, RRR, ex Arvind Sanghvi Collection. The octofoil type was used at a few mint for Shah Jahan from AH1067-1069, so far reported for Ahmadabad, Akbarbad, Daulatabad, and Shahjahanabad, and this seems to be the first offered example from Allahabad, with the prefix Baldat ("city"). The prefix continued to be used for Allahabad under Aurangzeb on subsequent types until his 4th regnal year.
