MUGHAL: Shah Shuja, 1657-1660, AR rupee (11.05g), Ujjain, ND/DM, KM-276.x, well worn, as though someone carried it for many many years as a pocket piece, Very Good, RRR. The mint name appears in the lower segment of the obverse margin, and is reasonably clear, especially after having compared it to other coins of Ujjain from the latter part of the reign of Shah Jahan I or the early years of Aurangzeb. The two-petal flower at the lower left within the reverse square is very similar to that on a year 20 gold mohur of Shah Jahan I struck at Ujjain (CNG electronic auction 250, lot 423). Coins of Shah Shuja struck at Ujjain appear to be unpublished.
