MYSORE: LOT of 74 coins, a large and diverse group of mostly paisa coins of Tipu Sultan, 1782-1799 including a diversity of mints, dates and varieties, all with elephant, a very interesting study lot, average circulated quality, retail value $1500, lot of 74 coins, ex Dr. Vincent John Adams Flynn Collection. Tipu Sultan's elephant paisa coins are distinctive copper coins from the Kingdom of Mysore in India. They featuring an elephant facing either left or right on the obverse and Persian script with date, mint, denomination, often displayed on the reverse. Most are dated in the Mauludi era and earlier issues of his reign are show dates in the standard Hijri era.
