NAN MING: Yong Chang, 1644-1645, AE 5 cash (11g), H-21.4, with 'er shui' yong, broad rims, graded 80 by GBCA Grading Company, VF. Li Zicheng was the son of a village leader in Shaanxi. After a period of famine and high taxation, Li and his followers revolted. The end of the Ming Dynasty came in 1644 when Li succeeded in taking Beijing. He assumed the reign title Yong Chang and declared himself emperor, upon which the last Ming emperor committed suicide.
