NARHAN: Punchmarked, ca. 500-450 BC, AR double karshapana (7.02g), cf. Pieper-35, central pentagon symbol with outer crescents, plus three bold banker's marks; fabulous preservation, AU, R, ex Wilfried Pieper Collection. Consignor's comment: It was the Narhan hoard which gave the series its general name in spite of different findspots on territories of the ancient Shakya Janapada. These lands were the homeland of the Buddha.
