NETHERLANDS EAST INDIES: Japanese Occupation, 1942-1944, tin alloy 10 sen, NE2604, Y-66, shadow puppet, environmental damage, PCGS graded Unc details. Struck at the Osaka Mint for use in the Netherlands East Indies. The only inscription found on them is Dai Nippon (Great Japan). The war situation had worsened to the point that shipping the coins became virtually impossible. Consequently, none of these coins ever reached the East Indies and almost the entire issue was lost or remelted at the mint. Dates are from the Japanese Shinto dynastic calendar.
