NETHERLANDS EAST INDIES: Wilhelmina, 1890-1948, AR gulden, 1943-D, KM-330, with palm tree privy mark, NGC graded MS63. The Japanese Empire occupied the Netherlands East Indies during World War II from 1942 through 1945. Subsequently, the Dutch Government had the American Government strike bronze and silver coins at the San Francisco, Denver and Philadelphia mints during this time period. TheU.S. Mint in Denver struck some 20 million silver one gulden and 2 million 2½ gulden coins in anticipation of the eventually liberation of the colony from the Japanese.
