NICARAGUA: Republic, AV 50 cordobas, 1967, KM-25, Schön-26, 100th Anniversary of Ruben Dario's Birth, struck by Huguenin Frères, Switzerland, PCGS graded MS66 PL. Félix Rubén García Sarmiento, better known as Rubén Darío, born in Metapa (now Ciudad Darío) on January 18, 1867 and died in Léon on February 6, 1916, was a Nicaraguan poet. He is the founder of the modernist literary movement in the Spanish-American language. "Modernism" made its definitive debut with the publication of Rubén Darío's Azul in Chile in 1888. Darío's subsequent publications earned him recognition as the undisputed leader of the new movement.
