NUMAYRID: Qawâm b. Waththab, before 1040, BI dirham (1.30g), MM, DM/ND, A-771Q, Heidemann, citing the Fatimid caliph al-Zahir (1021-1036), with the last two lines on the obverse al-amirân al-sayyidân / shabib wa qawâm, clear on this example; slight porosity, but almost fully legible, F-VF, RRRR. Shabib and Qawam were the sons of Waththab who ruled together in Harran and appear to have briefly had some arrangement with the 'Alawi Sayyids, who ruled at al-Raqqa at this time. A coin of great historical importance and the 2nd known specimen (the first sold in our Auction 36, Lot 448)!
