OTTOMAN EMPIRE: Ahmed I, 1603-1617, AV sultani (3.36g), Shirvan, AH1012, A-1347.2, KM-9, full bold mint & date, struck during the brief Ottoman occupation of portions of Azerbaijan, VF, RRRR. Sreckovic refers only to silver coins struck by the Ottomans at Shirvan, in the names of both Mehmet III and Ahmed I. No gold coins of Shirwan are listed in KM and we have found no auction references to one. This piece is possibly unique, in any case, of the greatest rarity.
