OTTOMAN EMPIRE: COUNTERMARKED COINS: AE 40 para, AH[1]301, Wilski-A3-07 & G16-28c, Plomari, Lesbos: countermarks 1) Pilmar Belediyesi ("Municipality of Plomari") above date in dome-shaped incuse, 2) (Potamos, Plomari) under three pellets and above date in oval incuse, on obverse of 40 para AH(1255) year 17, extremely rare, VF to EF on worn host, ex Hans Wilski Collection (plate coin). The only example this countermark known to Wilski, distinguishable from similar varities by outstandingly good calligraphy and carefully burnished background.
