OTTOMAN TURKEY: Abdul Hamid II, 1876-1909, AR medal (5.07g), AH1308, NP-1115, 24.7 mm, Liyakat Madalyasi ("medal of merit"), pierced for mounting, as always, strong VF-XF General award medal, introduced in 1890 and used until the end of World War I in 1918, given to both military and civilian recipients, including women after a statutary amendment in 1905, who received the medal for charitable work, service to mosques or schools, and other decidedly civilian merit.
